Wow, what a weekend! I have made it safely home and I am feeling a bit better, ok, ALOT better than I was 5 days ago. It all started Wednesday after I went to bed. I woke up around 11:30pm with a horrible migraine that would not go away. I immediately got scared because one of the things the dr warned me about was that if I developed a head ache on top of my blood pressure problem and swelling issues it was a sign of preclampsia. I felt so bad I decided to try to sleep through the night and call the dr in the morning. I got more and more sick and started throwing up and feeling real bad. I dont think I slept much at all got up and took a shower and decided to go to CVS to check my blood pressure to see if I really should have paniced or not. Well it was a bit high but I mananged to get home and laid on the couch. I did not call the dr till about 2:30 when I finally gave in to feeling like a Mac truck hit me sideways. He told me to immediately get myself to the 3rd floor labor and delivery dept at the hospital! I felt so bad there was no way I could get myself there by my self so I called my sister in law who was a lifesaver and came and got me. I ended up in the Labor and Delivery department hooked up to IV's of Demerol and Saline and strapped to a fetal monitor that was monitoring the baby and my contractions. It appears that I had started contractions and did not even know it! My Ob showed up who told me that if things continued in the fashion it was going that the baby would have to be delivered that evening. My high risk dr showed up to do a sono to check on the baby and make sure she was not in to much stress. I was so upset , Eddie was still in San Jose and not expected home till Friday at noon. I did not want to have the baby without him being there! Of course I was so sick and throwing up and miserable that I also knew I could not keep up with the way I was feeling either. Well believe it or not after about 9 hours of laying there hooked up to stuff and relaxing I was actually feeling a lot better and they were talking about releasing me! The contractions had discontinued, my migraine was diminishing and my blood pressure had returned to a normal level. They gave me the option to go home or stay the night and after my day I decided that I just wanted to go home and try to sleep! Well Tammy took me home and wanted to stay with me the night but I insisted I would be ok, I just wanted to go to bed and sleep.... well that was my second mistake of that night. My first mistake was that I left the hospital, the second mistake was I let my sister in law go home instead of staying with me! To make a long story short, I got deathly sick again that night, called my dr at about 4am and was told to immediately return to the hospital labor and deliver dept and be admitted this time! I called my poor sister in law again who came once again to my rescue (boy do I owe her!!) and we were back up at the hospit al and I was admitted to labor and delivery. I was so sick I dont remember the first 5 hours or so of the entire ordeal, but I do remember my sister in law waking me up and telling me she was going to the airport to pick up my husband who was flying at noon. I immediately fell back to sleep and woke up the next time to my incredible husband walking through the hospital door and taking me in his arms and hugging me... I'd never been so happy in my whole life. At that point I did not care what happened he was there !! In the end, the problem was that my migraine was causing some distress. The baby was fine but "mom" was having issues! They did a neuro consult and CT Scan on me and found nothing wrong except for a migraine that would not quit! I ended up on a steroid regimine that after 3 days finally did a pretty good job of kicking the migraine. It was finally decided that I was ok to go home of course the steroids came with me... hey maybe I 'll get some muscles out this right?? No , seriously the steriods will do wonders to help with the baby's lung development just in case we run into anymore problems in the next few weeks. We only have 6 more weeks to go , we just need to keep praying that our little Elyssa holds on for that long!
Here is a picture of me all hooked up to the fetal monitor. They monitored her 3 times a day while I was in the hospital.
All of the pictures are from my cell phone camera so the quality is not so great but it is all that I had. I am so glad the whole ordeal is over... I just hope that it does not happen again!
I had a follow up dr's appointment today with my dr and they did a biophysical on the baby. She is doing wonderfully and weights 4lbs 8 oz right now! They did a few more 3D sono pics for me also and they are adorable. I have to scan them and get them up here as well. Our little girl is growing wonderfully , we just have to keep her safe till April 13th!!
