WOW.. What a trip!! Well little princess took her first trip and first plane ride last week and she did wonderfully! In fact I think she handled it better than mommy and daddy did. We left very early on Monday morning, our flight was at 7:55am and we wanted to be at the airport 2 hours early and boy were we glad we did. We got up at 4 am and made it to the airport by 6am and there was a line out the door for ticketing. We did check in online but we had sooo much luggage we had check and with a baby we had to get an “infant” ticket for her even to sit our laps. We stood in line for what seemed like forever but we finally made it to the counter and took care of all of our stuff, it was then off to SECURITY. It was not too bad, they had a special line set up for people traveling with kids and strollers so we walked right in and started the “stripping” process. I had to take her out of her carrier and carrier her through the security gate while poor Eddie was left to pack everything up on the belt to be scanned. We even had to put the stroller on the security belt to be scanned. We made it through and found our way to pre-boarding for our flight. On the first leg of our flight we had a front row seat but after realizing that there were no “tray tables and you could not put anything under your seat” we decided this was not the perfect seat for us traveling with twinkle toes! Everything had to go in the over head bins which made it more difficult to get to. We had a lay over in St. Louis where we switched planes and then we were on to Chicago where we stayed on the plane and picked up more passengers. After that we were finally on our way to Pittsburgh!! It was a long flight but it was a free trip sooo I could not complain too much. We made it to Pittsburgh at about 3pm on Monday and Grandma and Pappy were there to meet us. I think Elyssa was very happy to be out of that airplane and on ground again. We had a busy week and it started with eating at Ci Ci’s Pizza on the way home from the airport with Grandma and Pappy. This is how our week went:
Monday: Arrived in Pittsburgh at 3pm and went back to Grandma and Pappy’s to settle in and get unpacked
Tuesday: We went to get pictures taken at Wal-Mart. Grandma has a friend who works at the Wal-Mart photo shop and we had pictures of little Elyssa taken and some of all of us together. Eddie and I got our picture taken with her, Grandma and pappy had their picture taken with her and then the 5 of us got our picture taken together. After that we spent some time shopping. They have K-mart in that area so we had to go check out the baby clothes at K-mart. Needless to say we bought way to many things or little twinkle toes! We also visited with some of Grandma’s friends at the McDonalds around there. Every one wanted to meet out little angel, so we had to go and show her off of course. That evening we went to watch fireworks at Elyssa’s great Aunt Florence and Uncle Melvin’s. We got to visit with some cousins while we were there also. It was a blast and Elyssa LOVED the fireworks…her eyes got to the size of golf balls and she would not stop looking at the sky. It was a huge display and we all had a great time.
Wednesday: The 4th of July!! We had a picnic at Grandma and Pappy’s and we had lots of people come and meet little Elyssa. We had a great time and that evening we had to make a trip to Wal-Mart so Daddy could get some things he needed to work on Grandma’s computer. We of course came across some fireworks while we were out so we got to see even more fireworks!
Thursday: We all took a trip to visit some friends and did of course some more shopping. We went to Gabriel’s a discount store in the area and again bought way to many clothes for little Elyssa…they were just too cute to pass up and well she is worth it you know! We got a lot of stuff packed up on Thursday evening because our flight was leaving Friday at 5:35pm.
Friday: We took some pictures of all of us together and finished up all of the packing. Daddy also finished working on Grandma’s computer. We left for the airport around 2pm so we would be there at least 2 hours early. We did not know how busy it would be and what we would run into. The plane ride was again very long and Elyssa had a bit of trouble with cabin pressure but it was not too bad. We made it back to Dallas at 10:45pm and were very happy to be home again.
All in all, we had a great trip and Elyssa got to spend lots of quality time with her Grandma and Pappy
