For Memorial Day weekend we took a trip to Balmorhea TX to visit Daddy Jay, Eddies 92 year old grandfather. He was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and had part of his lung removed and is not doing real well, but hopefully will pull through this. He is staying at his house still but family or someone has to be with him 24 hours a day. We wanted to make sure Elyssa got to meet her great – grand father and get her picture taken with him. The trip is an 8 hour trip with no kids and I was worried about how she would do. Well we packed what seemed like the whole house and started out last Saturday morning. We set up the truck so that one of us was always in the back seat with her, so she would be secure in the fact that someone was there. She really did ok most of the way. She started getting restless the last hour but it was not too bad, although with all the stops to change her and to eat it took over 10 hours to get there! All in all the trip went well, we stayed at a hotel since the baby cries a lot, we did not want to disturb Daddy Jay but staying at his house. So Elyssa went on her first big trip and I think in July over the 4th we are flying into Pittsburgh to visit my parents and Elyssa will get to meet her “pappy” for the first time, she sure has some big events coming up…!
