Happy New Year!!! Wow, what an exciting last couple weeks we have had, so busy and we have had so much to do. It has been really nice having daddy home for the holiday. He was home all of Christmas week and looks like all of New Years week. We certainly were blessed this season. Elyssa loves her daddy and her eyes just light up when he is in the room and she just smiles and laugh and giggles when he is around, it is just too cute.
For Christmas Eve, we went to Aunt Lisa’s house for dinner and a small party. She had her neighbors over and little Olivia was there. She is a month younger than Elyssa. (Ok, so in Elyssa’s adjusted age she is actually younger than Elyssa but who is looking at that anyway?) It was so sweet watching them play and get to know each other. Of course Olivia was up crawling and pulling herself up on everything…and pool Elyssa was just there sitting and watching, and rolling everywhere. She can pull her self up, and has started creeping around things a bit. She just has to learn to crawl to them and pull herself up on the stuff. The dr said she is fine, just doing things her “own way”. I love her no matter how she does things. I have learned the hard lesson of “do not compare you baby to everyone else’s” “every baby is different”. I know, I know… We had a wonderful night spending it with our extended family. I know Elyssa had a great time; she made a sweet little new friend.
Christmas day was soooo special. It was Elyssa first Christmas and we have tons of pictures and tons of videos. She helped me open all of her presents. I said I was not going to over due it this year but we did go over board and with all the stuff she got from Grandma and Pappy all her aunts and uncles she did very well, I think Santa Claus thought she was a very good girl this year. Boy, I have a lot to look forward to next year. For dinner we had Aunt Lisa, Aunt Tonia, and JT over. We were invited a couple places (Aunt Reds and Aunt Elena’s) but we decided for her fist Christmas we were going to stay home and enjoy our time with our daughter. I cooked a huge meal… ham, scalloped potatoes, broccoli Cheese Casserole, green beans, rolls and we had tons for dessert. Aunt Lisa brought a suitcase of games and deserts over; it was quite funny when she rolled her suitcase in the house…lol.
New Years Eve was spent with Aunt Lisa and her friends. Of course Olivia was there again for Elyssa to play with and the little girls were quite the troopers for the New Years. They both fell asleep before midnight, but we woke them up at 11:50 so they would not miss the excitement. Aunt Lisa had tons of streamers, hats, blowy things, and popper things for us to do. We have adorable pics of the little girls all dressed up in New Years Eve hats and streamers. Elyssa had a blast playing in it all after it was over; I have some incredible pictures of that also… Today for New Years day we took down all of the Christmas decorations outside and inside. We had to take advantage of daddy being home to help, so the house is wreck right now but we are working on it.
I can honestly say this was one of the best holiday’s we have ever had. Spending the first Christmas with our little girl was such a blessing, I cannot think of anything better.
