Ok, I knew when I got pregnant that there would be alot of dr's appointments but this is starting to turn into an edurance test! Just how many appointments can you squeeze into one week?? This week I had an appointment with a new Endocrinologist on Wed that my Ob/Gyn dr reccommended. There was a 2 and a half month wait for an appointment but my Ob/Gyn Dr called and got me in ALOT sooner, funny how that works when a Dr calls?? Anyway that appointment lasted about 2 and a half hours!! I could not beleive I was in that office that long. It was not all waiting either, I was visiting with lots of people and answering a ton of questions...anyway they are very concerned about my age , the pregnancy, and keeping my glucose levels as low as possible...In order to do this it is going to require a lot of diligence on my part. They want me test about 8-10 times a day and increased my insulin injections to 5 a day! I feel like a human pin coushin....but it is all for the baby right?? On Thursday I had another appointment with my Ob/Gyn. This appointment was was not all that eventful, although I did get to hear the babies heartbeat and was told I need to now make an appointment with an eye dr and another appointmet with him to have more blood work done for the alpha beta protien test that has to be done. I also have to schedule another appointment with the high risk pregnancy dr I see for a structural scan on the baby during week 20! Oh , yeah, and today I had to go to Quest diagnostic to have blood work done... and let me tell you that was no fun. I've had blood work done over and over again. As a diabetic I have had blood drawn every 3 months for what seems like forver but this place was horrible. The woman could not find my vein ( no one has ever had a problem before??!!??) so she was standing there, moving the needle around in my arm it really started to hurt and I was about to say something when she asked "does that hurt", I just looked at her like "DUH??" and said "yes, it kind of does??!!!" She switched arms and finally got it , but geez....what an experience, my left arm is bruising as I type.
This week was not all Dr's appointments...we did have some fun. On Wednesday night we went to Scottish Rite Hospital to help volunteer for the halloween party for PALS. We do it every year, Eddies sister Tammy is really into it and we go every year to help her. The kids are absolutely amazing. Most of them are missing a limb, either an arm or leg, but you would never know they had a disability. They are all so adjusted and just adorable. We all dressed up again and had a blast. On Thursday night we went to Jakes on McKinney Ave to celebrate Tonia's B-day.
Wow, and now it is Friday......
